Child riding scooter struck by truck at Bergen County intersection

A child is hospitalized after being struck by a landscaping vehicle Friday morning in Bergen County, police said.

The juvenile, whose age and gender were not released, was riding a scooter at the intersection of Prescott Street and Hardenburgh Avenue in Demarest around 9 a.m. when the collision occurred, according to Demarest police Chief Anthony Dimitriadis.

The child was take to a local hospital with serious injuries, the chief said, but was listed as stable.

No charges have been announced.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash and the incident remains under investigation, Dimitriadis stated.
